An Islington Townhouse
Recently relocated from New York, the new owners of this tired and unmodernised town house in North London brought with them just a few items – some rugs, a grand piano, a harpsichord, their personal possessions and the odd chair. All other furniture they had amassed over 20 years was left behind and Stringer Interiors was called in to help build a new home from scratch.
The house needed an extensive overhaul and with the help of our trusted team of builders, contractors and suppliers, Stringer Interiors designed, sourced and over saw the complete transformation.
The initial brief had been for a white, modern feel but over time working with the traditional features of the house warmer, bolder and darker colours were introduced.
There was one definitive request – the double drawing room needed to house both the grand piano and the harpsichord as well as a sitting area, somewhere smart enough to welcome guests but also to allow for musical soirees.
The clients participated every step of the way taking a keen interest in visiting showrooms, researching kitchens and bathrooms, being involved in the furniture sourcing – it was a great working partnership which has resulted in a personal and much loved family home.
